From dream to reality
When the first edition of Bergen Fashion Week took place in December 2024, it marked the beginning of a new era for fashion in Bergen. The event brought together an exceptional mix of talent, creativity, and groundbreaking design. Now, in 2025, we look back at a debut that not only celebrated fashion but also diversity and artistic expression.
Ieva: From the fishing industry to the catwalk
Winning the award for models at the Bergen Fashion Award is more than an accolade – it’s a victory over obstacles, a recognition of passion, and an inspiration for all who dare to dream. This year’s winner, Ieva, has a story that proves that nothing is impossible for those who work hard and believe in themselves.
Ieva arrived in Norway in 2012, and her first job was far from the glamorous world of fashion – she worked in the fishing industry. For over five years, she spent long days in Austevold before making a bold decision: to leave the security of her job and follow her heart to Bergen.
– I wanted to find something I truly loved to do, she says with a sparkle in her eyes.
Her first step into the world of beauty was through courses in nail design and makeup, but it was her modeling career that truly ignited the spark in her.
– I’ve always been fascinated by art and expression. When I got the chance to stand in front of the camera, I suddenly felt proud of myself, she says.
Even with dance experience from her childhood, it wasn’t until 2016/2017 that she began to realize that the catwalk could become her stage. With a mix of dedication, hard work, and a willingness to challenge herself, she built her confidence step by step.
– It was magical to see the pictures, hear the compliments, and feel that I really belonged here, she says.
Through various assignments, language learning, and networking, she has not only grown as a model but also as a person.
– I want people to know that it’s never too late to start anew. You can come from anywhere and still find your place.
A historic opening performance
When Ieva took the stage at Bergen Fashion Week, it wasn’t as just any model – she opened the entire show with a hypnotic dance. Her movements radiated both strength and grace, and her artistic expression united fashion and dance in a way that mesmerized the audience.
– Dance has always been a part of me, and getting to open such a big show with movement and expression was an unforgettable experience, she shares with deep gratitude.
Winning the model award wasn’t just a moment of triumph – it was a milestone in her journey.
– I had so much fun that I completely forgot there was going to be an award! Suddenly, my name was called, and I couldn’t believe it. It means so much to me, says Ieva, with tears in her eyes.
With this recognition in her back pocket, she looks forward to new opportunities, both nationally and internationally. She dreams of combining her modeling career with dance and art and hopes to use her platform to inspire others.
– I want to use my voice to motivate people to follow their dreams, whether it’s on the catwalk, in creative projects, or in the many paths of life.
Ieva hasn’t just won an award – she has proven that courage, perseverance, and passion can change lives.
– I hope my story can inspire others to dare to follow their dreams. It’s not about where you start, but where you choose to go.
Unity Magazine congratulates Ieva on her victory and looks forward to following her continued journey in the fashion industry!
