The photographer who found the magic in fashion – Maurizio di Felice
For Maurizio di Felice, a photographer with 25 years of experience, Bergen Fashion Week was more than just a job. It was a magical journey where trust, creativity, and inclusivity came together, allowing him to connect with new people, explore a fresh culture, and capture the true essence of fashion.
Bergen Fashion Week was an experience that made photographer Maurizio di Felice feel like he was in another place, living another life, even though he had only been living in Bergen for a year and a half.
The Italian photographer, who has been active in the industry for 25 years, had never attended a fashion show in Bergen before, but he knew this experience would be something special. Bergen Fashion Week turned out to be not only a fashion show but also a springboard for new creative opportunities.
“When I walked backstage in the morning and got to know the people there, I gained their trust,” Maurizio says with a smile. “I’m a shy person, so it’s not easy for me to connect with people, but behind the camera, I’m comfortable. People talk to me easily, and suddenly I feel a little closer to them. The moment that was most important to me was when the models started trusting me and allowed me to take pictures of them. That’s what makes my job magical.”
A new beginning in Bergen
Although di Felice has many years of experience with fashion shows in Italy, Bergen Fashion Week was a completely new experience. There was something about the atmosphere and the people that made this week in Bergen particularly special.
“I’ve lived in Bergen for a year and a half, but after Bergen Fashion Week, it felt like I was actually living in a different city. I met so many inspiring people who were open to collaboration, people who wanted to develop new visual expressions together. It’s not just an event; it’s an opportunity to start something new.”
A fashion show with an inclusive vision
Bergen Fashion Week stood out not only for its professionalism but also for its open and inclusive atmosphere. Maurizio believes this is one of the key values behind the event.
“The ideas behind Bergen Fashion Week are inclusion, and here, there’s real inclusion. This is an environment that’s open and welcoming for everyone, and it’s created thanks to all those who participate. The catwalk is open to all, regardless of background, race, or religion. Everyone gets a chance to showcase their creations. It’s a world without judgment.”
For Maurizio di Felice, Bergen Fashion Week was not just a job – it was an opportunity to explore a new culture, meet talented people, and contribute to a larger vision of diversity and collaboration. For a photographer, it’s always human connections that create the best images.
“This event gave me a new start in Bergen. I’m grateful to have been part of something so magical.”
